At Sage Alliance Schools, we offer a personalized approach to college and career planning and preparation. With 85% of our students continuing to postsecondary education, we place a strong emphasis on rigorous, state-aligned academics and comprehensive college preparation to ensure students are ready to thrive in higher education.

A Personalized Approach to College & Career Planning
Unlike traditional high schools, Sage Alliance’s small class sizes and 30:1 student-to-counselor ratio (compared to New Jersey’s 298:1 average) allow for personalized college and career planning. Our dedicated college and career counselor works one-on-one with students to explore their strengths, interests, and aspirations, ensuring they are fully prepared for the demands of higher education.
Comprehensive College Preparation
Our college readiness program provides students with structured guidance and opportunities to prepare for higher education. From standardized test support to firsthand exposure to college campuses, we ensure students have the tools and confidence needed to succeed.
- Junior & Senior Years: Students receive dedicated college counseling for SAT/ACT registration, Common App completion, essay writing, and financial aid guidance.
- College Visits: Students tour local colleges, including Montclair State, Ramapo College, and Bergen Community College, to gain firsthand exposure to college environments.
- Dual Enrollment: Eligible seniors can earn college credits through partnerships with Bergen Community College, giving them a head start on their degree while still in high school.
- Advanced Academics: While we do not offer traditional AP courses, students can take AP exams with structured support, study periods, and access to online AP courses.
- College-Ready Skills: Our curriculum integrates academic rigor, research skills, and time management training to ensure students transition smoothly to college coursework.
- Virtual College & Career Nights, FAFSA Workshops, and Scholarships: Resources for families to support postsecondary planning.

Career Exploration & Work-Based Learning
For students who are eager to explore career pathways, we offer real-world experiences that build valuable skills and connections in various industries. Our career readiness initiatives allow students to gain hands-on experience while still in high school.
- Internships & Apprenticeships: Students gain real-world experience through local business partnerships and customized career placements.
-
Work-Based Learning (WBL): Through collaborations with Job Corps and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS), students access hands-on training, apprenticeships, and part-time job opportunities.
- Flexible School Schedule: Students can balance part-time work or specialized training with their high school coursework.
Early Exposure & Interest Exploration
We believe that preparing for the future starts early. Our structured approach helps students begin thinking about their strengths, interests, and career goals from middle school onward.
- Middle School & Freshman Year: Students are introduced to college exploration early, building a foundation for academic and career planning.
-
Sophomore Year: Students complete career interest inventories using MyNextMove.org and NJCAN, helping them identify potential academic and career pathways aligned with their strengths.

Supporting Individual Student Goals
Sage Alliance recognizes that every student’s path is unique. Some students excel in academics and head straight to college, while others find success through trade schools, entrepreneurship, or hands-on apprenticeships. Our goal is to ensure each student discovers the best path for them.
